Manuela Simonetti holds the position of Principal Scientist at FundaMental Pharma.
She is a leading neuroscientist and medical biotechnologist with more than 15 years’ experience in neuropharmacology, specializing in preclinical pharmacology and pain models. She combines deep knowledge in molecular and cellular biology, behavioral analysis, and operative strategies with a strong track record of advancing the understanding of pain transmission and neuroimmune interactions.
She previously held academic positions at the University of Heidelberg, where she led projects on spinal plasticity, neuroimmune interactions, and novel therapeutic targets for chronic pain.
Her work has been published in leading journals including Neuron, Nature Medicine, and Molecular Psychiatry, and her scientific excellence has been recognized with awards from the German Society for the Study of Pain (DGSS) and the University of Heidelberg.
Manuela Simonetti holds a master’s degree in medical biotechnology from the University of Trieste and a PhD in Neuroscience from the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste.
